22 Feb 2018 - 10:00am
Rice Extension are delighted invite you to the third Women in Rice network event!
The Women in Rice network aims to connect and empower rural women involved in the rice farming business. There is a focus on sharing knowledge, building skills and growing confidence to make good business decisions, with rice as the common theme. Women of all ranges of experience, knowledge and association of the rice industry are invited. We encourage you to bring along your friends, sisters, mother, daughters and daughters-in-law to the event.
The free information and networking event will include a bus tour, with the opportunity to learn about innovation and research involved in producing rice for a changing marketplace. This will be followed by lunch.
Bus tour and lunch
The day will commence with a bus tour of Rice Research Australia Pty Ltd, where you will hear from industry experts on:
  • Developing new rice varieties
  • Producing seed
  • On farm impact on grain quality
  • Future technology for rice growing
This will be followed by lunch at the Old Coree homestead and a presentation from Shannon Cumberlidge, SunRice and Kari Cook, Riviana on 'Understanding your consumer'.
Conargo Rd, 18 km west of Jerilderie and 34 km east of Conargo.
Registration for the event is available here. Numbers are limited.
Attendance at a previous Women in Rice network event is not required to attend this one.
Child care
There are a couple of spaces available for casual childcare at Jerilderie Pre-School Kindergarten for children aged 3-5. If you would like to take up this option, a full enrollment pack will need to be completed as soon as possible and at least a week prior to the event. Call 03 5886 1770 to arrange this.
If you do bring children to Old Coree, they will be your own responsibility and, please note, there is an unfenced flowing creek within the garden at the homestead.
