It includes: Alma Park, Burrandana, Collingullie, Gelston Park, Henty, Lockhart, Mangoplah, Pleasant Hills, Pulletop, The Rock, Uranquinty and Yerong Creek.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Its aim is to play a lead role in protecting, enhancing and promoting sustainable land use in the Eastern Riverina.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">ERLG was formed in 2017 after the decline of an association of several smaller, individual locality-based Landcare groups. It aims to continue and augment the work done by these previous groups. Feel welcome to browse through our &#8220;Activities&#8221; tab to see our achievements and current projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Natural resources in the Eastern Riverina<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The Eastern Riverina is a predominantly flat to undulating rural landscape with extensive grazing and broadacre cropping.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The main natural resource issues affecting the region include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Land degradation, especially erosion, dryland salinity and declining soil quality, especially soil structural breakdown;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Weed invasion from both pasture-based and environmental weeds;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Decline in native flora and fauna, including loss of genetic and species diversity, and lack of connected natural environments;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Feral pest invasion, resulting in the loss of localised native flora and fauna populations; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Climate change.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Strategic overview<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Vision &#8211; tab_id=&#8221;1508111650763-bba94475-fd30&#8243;][vc_column_text]<span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Objective 1 &#8211; Facilitate on-ground projects<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Our <em><strong>actions<\/strong> <\/em>to achieve this objective are to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Identify local natural resource issues that are constraining sustainable land use, identify and promote solutions and management;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Work with other groups with similar aims and objectives to co-ordinate cross-catchment projects; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Promote awareness of the sustainable use of natural resources in our area.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The <em><strong>outcomes<\/strong> <\/em>we wish to achieve are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Sustainable land use;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Improved biodiversity and resilience in the face of climate change; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Identification and remediation of environmental issues, so the environment becomes an asset for the community.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Objective 2 &#8211; Operate in an organised and strategic manner<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Our <em><strong>actions<\/strong> <\/em>to achieve this objective are to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Review the Strategic Plan at least once per year;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Maintain a committee structure and membership that is appropriate to the needs of the community and ERLG;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Operate the committee in a manner consistent with the principles of an incorporated entity and in line with our vision;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Develop a framework for managing future ERLG projects; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Develop an action plan in consultation with the Local Landcare Coordinator.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The <em><strong>outcomes<\/strong> <\/em>we wish to achieve are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">A transparent, ethical, effective and accountable operation;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">A long term focus consistent with our vision;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">To complete our projects on time and within budget; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">To monitor our results and promote of our achievements.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Objective 3 &#8211; Encourage wide community involvement in Landcare<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Our <em><strong>actions<\/strong> <\/em>to achieve this objective are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Promote the benefits of Landcare;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Use appropriate media avenues to advertise, inform and market Landcare issues and activities;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Work with educational institutions to encourage participation of students in Landcare activities; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Invite other community groups, organisations and individuals to be involved in the work of ERLG.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The <em><strong>outcomes<\/strong> <\/em>we wish to achieve are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Increased number of people involved in Landcare and implementing sustainable land use;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Promotion of a modern image of Landcare, educating the community that Landcare is the broad concept of sustainable land use;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Involvement of people from outside the current Landcare group; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Collaboration with educational organisations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>Objective 4 \u2013 Encourage and support our future Landcare leaders<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Our <em><strong>actions<\/strong> <\/em>to achieve this objective are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Identify potential leaders and educators to encourage their involvement in Landcare projects;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Identify and facilitate training in leadership skills and knowledge appropriate to Landcare activities; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Allocate and share tasks amongst potential leaders.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The <em><strong>outcomes<\/strong> <\/em>we wish to achieve are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Development of a succession plan for the future;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Development of a network of people participating in leadership and educational roles at all levels within the ERLG; tab_id=&#8221;1607780538307-571ddd98-c3b5&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><strong>Despite the many challenges of 2020-1 we are proud to have achieved the following in the last few years:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">* Farm Plastic Wrap Recycling (project extended to June 2021)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">* Revegetation Field Day at Henty \/ Pleasant Hills<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">* Regular seasonal engagement with BirdLife Australia&#8217;s &#8216;Birds on Farms&#8217; surveys<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">* Annual monitoring of endangered squirrel gliders in nestboxes at a local nature reserve<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">* Annual involvement with the Landcare shed display at the Henty Machinery Field Days<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">* Removal of over 7km barbed wire fencing on local farms and replacement with plain wire for endangered squirrel gliders<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">* Revegetation Case Study<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">* Installation of seating and signage at Five Ways Reserve (with funding assistance from a NSW Government grant)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">* Printing and distribution of Mental Health beer coasters to licensed <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">premises within the eastern Riverina. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">* Three of our members succeeded in obtaining Local\u00a0 Land Services funding for revegetation corridors on their farms.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">For further information on any of these achievements, enjoy browsing through the three case studies below, or feel welcome to contact the Secretary.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Farm Plastic Wrap Recycling&#8221;
