During NAIDOC Week 2022, Murrumbidgee Local Health District Health Promotion Team, in collaboration with Mark Saddler, Wiradjuri Man, and Ungarie Central School launched The Bush Tucker Garden Project. It is an opportunity for schools to Get Up, Stand Up and Show Up in line with NAIDOC Week activities.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The Bush Tucker Garden Project aims to inspire local schools to connect with their local Aboriginal Elders to learn about and start their own bush tucker gardens. It\u2019s an opportunity to learn and celebrate Aboriginal culture, understand connections to Country and empower schools to establish a garden.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
During NAIDOC week and into school term 3, all primary schools in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District will receive a resource pack where they can watch Mark\u2019s video, use lesson plans and activities in the classroom and start discussions with their local Aboriginal Elders. Schools will also receive the recording of Mark and Ungarie Central School\u2019s conversation, and Health Promotion team support, to help them Get Up, Stand Up and Show Up throughout schools activities.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The Health Promotion team hopes that these resources will inspire schools to develop a bush tucker garden and start a conversation with their local Aboriginal Elders.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
