Walk South, toward Bundidgerry Creek.

McCaughey’s Lagoon Yanco Off Kiln Road in Yanco, meander through the River Red Gum woodland and see if you can spot one of the koalas from the Narrandera colony.

Not only is it set to be beautiful weather for a walk, but there will also be plenty of flora and fauna to observe. If you really want a challenge, why not join up to iNaturalist and start recording your observations? iNaturalist is a community-powered platform where people can record and share observations of plants, animals, and other living organisms to support biodiversity research and conservation. You may just learn a new species or two!

You can join me for a creative morning as part of the Blooming Connections program on Thursday 18 September from 10am-12pm at the Narrandera Tafe campus. We’ll learn some simple weaving techniques while sharing stories, a cuppa, and plenty of laughs. The Blooming Connections program is for Seniors (65+) and Elders (50+) and will continue to run until the end of the year.

On Sunday the 7th, Narrandera Landcare Group is hosting a wildflower walk on Bundidgerry Hill. We will be meeting at the lookout on the corner of Old Wagga Road and Ridgeview Road at 10am. It’s a good way to get the bushwalk in I suggested earlier!

Another great way to spot a koala is to join in on Narrandera’s annual Koala Count, which is on the 21st of September at the Narrandera Flora and Flora Reserve from 9.30am until 1pm. Theres a festival the day before at Brewery Flat as well!
