A day to celebrate our beautiful Riverina landscapes with Eastern Riverina Landcare.<\/p>\n

What a fantastic turnout! We had citizen scientists of all ages enjoying the Tootool Wetlands on Bullenbung Creek.<\/p>\n

It was wonderful to have members of the Milbrulong and District Landcare Group join us and share stories of the work they carried out years ago to protect Crown Land from erosion. Their efforts have created a thriving wetland that now provides habitat for a diverse range of birdlife, reptiles, and flora.<\/p>\n

We spotted chocolate lilies, Eutaxia, bindweed and nardoo among the plants. Our bird list featured a dollarbird, kingfisher and tawny frogmouth. Along the creek bed, we even came across several mussels.<\/p>\n

Never underestimate the difference a Landcare group can make.<\/p>\n

We had loads of expertise on hand. Darcy from BirdLife Australia, Janet, who wowed the kids with her lizards and Tina, who was a great help with plant identification.<\/p>\n

Having so many keen eyes was a real blessing. Carmel and the kids spotted a tawny frogmouth with a young chick, a wonderful find!<\/p>\n

As you wander through wetlands in future, keep your eyes peeled. There\u2019s always something fascinating to discover.<\/p>\n

A lovely bonus on the way home was stopping at the Tootool roadside rest area, a charming spot with excellent facilities. Big thanks to all the locals who help maintain it.<\/p>\n
