Murrumbidgee Landcare Inc. (MLi) has launched a series of community workshops throughout May 2026, backed by the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT).
These free community events focus on practical conservation skills, local ecology, and sustainable land management tailored to the Murrumbidgee catchment.
The series span multiple towns, offering diverse hands-on experiences from wildlife spotting to cultural practices.
These workshops build community capacity in biodiversity protection. Topics cover everything from spotting native fauna at night to restoring seed orchards and applying cultural knowledge in land care.
Participants will gain actionable skills for private land conservation, with an emphasis on regional priorities like habitat connectivity and sustainable farming. All events are free, but spaces are limited and registration is necessary. No prior experience is needed, making them ideal for landholders, volunteers, and nature enthusiasts alike.
MLi’s initiative reflects growing momentum in NSW for private land conservation, supported by BCT programs that reward stewardship. By hosting in rural hubs like Matong, Tumut, Wagga Wagga, Harden, Temora, and Hay, the workshops ensure accessible education across the Murrumbidgee region, fostering long-term environmental resilience.
