Murrumbidgee Landcare Inc is pleased to announce it has been awarded two significant grants through the NSW Government’s Landcare Enabling Program, under the Aboriginal Partnerships Funding and the Innovations and Partnerships Funding streams. This investment will support the continuation and expansion of community-led environmental initiatives across the region.
The funding forms part of a $10 million investment by the NSW Government, shared across 22 successful projects statewide, aimed at strengthening Landcare networks and empowering local communities to deliver ongorund environmental outcomes.
This investment will enable Murrumbidgee Landcare Inc to continue supporting Landcare groups, volunteers, and community partners through capacity building, project delivery, and regional coordination. The program plays a vital role in enhancing biodiversity, improving land management practices, and fostering strong community connections.
Murrumbidgee Landcare CEO Ellen McDonald welcomed the announcement, highlighting the importance of sustained support for community driven environmental work.
“This funding enables us to build on existing partnerships, including with Aboriginal communities, strengthen regional capacity, and continue delivering practical, local based solutions to environmental challenges across the Murrumbidgee”.
Program activities will include citizen science initiatives, mapping projects, large scale workshops and community plantings using best-practice restoration techniques, strengthening nursery capacity across the catchment to increase locally endemic plant production, and working with landholders to establish demonstration sites that enhance biodiversity outcomes.
Murrumbidgee Landcare looks forward to continuing to work with Local Land Services, Landcare groups, Aboriginal partners and community stakeholders to deliver the next phase of the program.
