Invitation to join one of two new producer groups in the Eastern and Central Riverina districts
Do you want more profitable and sustainable grazing systems?
To achieve this, you need new skills and knowledge of the interaction between pastures and grazing livestock.
Producers can do this through PROGRAZE® a recognised, industry-leading training course based on proven principles of pasture and livestock production. Participants develop skills in pasture and animal assessment that improve the productivity and sustainability of grazing systems.
Riverina Local Services has teamed up with Phil Graham, from Phil Graham Consulting to offer PROGRAZE® to Riverina based producers during the 2022 to 2023 Financial year.
PROGRAZE® will help you to:
• visually assess pasture
• understand how pasture quality & quantity impact animal production
• match pastures to livestock requirements
• assess livestock fat score/condition
• use grazing management to improve productivity and sustainability of pastures
• use grazing management to help control worms.
The course
‘Hands on learning’ and skill development.
PROGRAZE® consists of 8 x ½ day workshops, generally held 4 – 6 weeks apart.
The course is hands-on, conducted on group member’s farms with in-paddock activities and discussion. The first workshops will be starting in September 2022.
There is an opportunity to participate with one of the groups across Central and Eastern Riverina districts, with participants from 12 – 18 farms per group. It is best if participants come from a local regional area to reduce travel and ensure grazing management issues are similar.
Course fee
$400 (+GST) per farm business, which is heavily subsidized by NSW Government funding, with full cost of $4000 per participant. Two or more members from a farm business may participate for this fee.
