Travelling the roads of the Riverina we often see an abundance of wonderful productive agricultural landscapes, including wheat, canola, sheep, cattle, grapes, cotton, rice, pulses, fruit, nuts and vegetables.
Nestled within this landscape there are lucky places that have not been cleared through agricultural practices. Such spaces include Crown Land, travelling stock reserves, state forests, private land where landholders have remnant vegetation, creek lines, roadside vegetation, wetlands and riverfronts.
During our recent Bioblitz, Murrumbidgee Landcare coordinators and their local Landcare groups discovered some of these lucky landscapes. The local groups discovered some amazing flora and fauna around Junee, Tootool, Leeton, Batlow and Wagga, not always seen from the car window.
