Henty came around a bit quick for us this year, but it was a resounding success. With our large as life lizard at the front of the shed encouraging people to have a chat about…….you guessed it lizards and where they like to live we had a wonderful draw card to the exhibit. Thanks Janet.
We also had a lot of interest in the kids art with stone painting and leaf art. It gave Mums, Dads and Grandparents time to have a little breather from pulling the gorilla cart full of goodies or from walking around Henty trying to see and absorb as much as possible.
Our interactive board was popular with many learning about native species which are being protected in the Murrumbidgee and Murray Landcare footprint by loads of organizations. Species like, Koalas, Plains-wanderers, Tumut Gravillias, Glossy Black Cockatoos Brolgas, Superb Parrots, Squirrel Gliders, Yam Daisies, Sloanes Froglets, Platypus, Oaklands Donkey Orchid, Southern pygmy perch, Macquarie perch, Eel-tailed Catfish, Pink-tailed worm-lizard.
What a list!!!! It is truly amazing how many people protect landscapes and waterways to make this happen. Some are doing surveys, some are planting trees, some are fencing off areas and reducing the number of feral pests in an area.
Whether you do the protection of these species for work, as a landholder, in a First Nations project, a Researcher, an Advisor or as a Volunteer, we are eternally grateful for the work that is going on.
A big thankyou to Holbrook Landcare for all your work in preparing the shed and to all who were rostered on over the three days.
