Join Wagga Wagga Urban Landcare for a fun, hands-on morning at the stunning Marrambidya Wetlands, a 20-hectare reserve known for its rich biodiversity and important Wiradjuri heritage. This free, family-friendly event is perfect for nature lovers, curious kids and anyone keen to learn more about the local environment.

What’s On

Enjoy four interactive stations positioned around the main lagoon:

  • Intro to iNaturalist & Landcare
    Receive a warm welcome and find out how to use the iNaturalist app to record your discoveries. Volunteers will be on hand to explain the work of Landcare and answer any of your questions.

  • Birds
    Take a stroll along the levee bank and meet local bird enthusiasts. Spot and learn about the diverse woodland and wetland birds that call Marrambidya home.

  • Waterbugs
    Try your hand at identifying waterbugs at our tables set up with trays of wetland water, waterbug posters and magnifying glasses. Discover why these tiny creatures are vital for a healthy ecosystem.

  • Frogs, Lizards & Turtles
    Visit the council sustainability van by the lagoon’s edge to listen for frogs and learn to identify their calls. See local real live lizards, and chat with our experts about the fascinating frogs, lizards and turtles found in and around the wetlands.

  • All ages welcome; please dress for the weather and bring your own water and hat.

  • Accessible facilities and picnic spots available.

  • Free entry. Parking available on-site via Narrung Street.
