The Murrumbidgee Landcare Team is excited to announce our participation again in the Henty Machinery Field Days, taking place from the 17th to the 19th of September 2024. You can find us in the Landcare Shed at Block C, Site 43.
This year, our main focus will be the launch of the updated Native Vegetation Guide of the Riverina and South West Slopes and Revegetation Guide books, developed in collaboration with the Holbrook Landcare Network (HLN).
The Official Launch Event for this Native Vegetation Guide of the Riverina and South West Slopes and Revegetation Guide Project will be held Wednesday 18th at 11:30am at the ‘Stump’. After the launch, participants can visit the Landcare shed for refreshments at the Landcare Shed site. RSVP: office@holbrooklandcare.org.au or 02 6036 3181.
For the past two years, Murrumbidgee Landcare Inc (MLi) and HLN have worked tirelessly to ensure that communities and the professionals supporting them have access to regionally-based best practice guides. These guides are essential for enhancing the resilience of revegetation and environmental restoration efforts in our increasingly climate-uncertain future. Funded by the Future Drought Fund as part of the Drought Resilient Soils and Landscapes Program, the updated guides are available as a series of two books and an interactive website.
The Henty Machinery Field Days is a pivotal event in our local region, bringing together professionals, industry leaders, farmers, and the broader community to learn about recent advances in agricultural technology and farming practices.
In keeping with tradition, we’ll be presenting an eye-catching central display in the Landcare Shed, designed to engage visitors and spark conversations. Murrumbidgee Landcare collaborates with many Landcare groups within a 500km radius of Henty, with up to 26 groups showcasing their projects and activities under the Landcare Shed. These groups hail from North East Victoria and the NSW Murray and Riverina regions.
Over the course of the three days, as many as 1,500 visitors are expected to come through the Landcare Shed. This year, we’re excited to include a collaborative artwork that you can add your leaf to the Landcare tree. Other Murrumbidgee Landcare highlights include posters and information about the Riverina Highlands Nursery, children’s Nature-Pressed Clay activities, and showcases of Murrumbidgee Landcare projects like Kids in Landcare, the Mental Health Project, the NSW Landcare Enabling Program, and the Threatened Birds Educational Resource Package.
This event is a fantastic opportunity for visitors to engage with our Local Landcare Coordinators, Project Coordinators, and other MLi staff. We’ll have a wide range of information, guides, and printed materials available, so be sure to stop by for a chat and to learn more about our efforts to support sustainable land management and environmental conservation in the region.
This project received funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
