    Landcare Alive at Hay Plains Landcare Nursery & Demonstration Site

    Join us every Thursday at the Hay Plains Landcare Nursery and Demonstration Site, conveniently located on the Piper Street side of the historic Hay Gaol Museum. This weekly gathering is a vibrant hub for environmental enthusiasts and community members alike, fostering a spirit of collaboration and sustainability.

    Weekly Activities:

    • Propagation and Planting: Engage in hands-on activities focused on nurturing native plants and trees.

    • Presentations: Learn from experts about best practices in environmental conservation and sustainable land management.

    • Community Engagement: Connect with like-minded individuals and contribute to local environmental initiatives.

    Cultural Burn Workshop - Hay, NSW.


    20 May 2025

    Join Murrumbidgee Landcare Inc to discover uses and techniques of cultural burns to reduce exotic weed, enhance native ground cover and increase drought tolerance.

     

    Discover how Cultural Burning, a practice used for centuries, supports biodiversity, increases drought resilience, and honours deep cultural connections to land. You’ll see fire on the ground and gain insight into land management through a cultural lens.

    This unique event offers an opportunity to witness a Traditional Cultural Burn, guided by Dean Freeman, Local Land Services, along with the Wiradjuri burns team.

     

    When: Tuesday 20th May 2025

    Time: 10:00am - 1:00pm

    Location: Meet at Riverina Local Land Services office, 56 Lachlan St, Hay.

     

    Morning tea and lunch provided.

     

    Please wear long fire-resistant pants, boots, sun protection and bring drinking water.

     

    This project is supported by FRRR, through funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund, made possible by the NSW Landcare Enabling Program, a collaboration of Local Land Services and Landcare NSW supported by the NSW Government.
