    Landcare Alive at Hay Plains Landcare Nursery & Demonstration Site

    Join us every Thursday at the Hay Plains Landcare Nursery and Demonstration Site, conveniently located on the Piper Street side of the historic Hay Gaol Museum. This weekly gathering is a vibrant hub for environmental enthusiasts and community members alike, fostering a spirit of collaboration and sustainability.

    Weekly Activities:

    • Propagation and Planting: Engage in hands-on activities focused on nurturing native plants and trees.

    • Presentations: Learn from experts about best practices in environmental conservation and sustainable land management.

    Everyone loves a country show and Hay has it all happening. This year, make sure to visit the Murrumbidgee Landcare stall, where you can learn about local projects, pick up tips on caring for the land and have a friendly chat with the team.

    Wildflower Wonderland Walkabout
    📅 Saturday 13th September
    🕑 2pm – 4pm
    📍 Tumut Mountain Bike Park, Tumut State Forest
    Step into Tumut State Forest for a relaxed wander and discover what makes this woodland’s understorey so special. Spring brings a mix of colourful blooms and some less flashy but equally intriguing plants around every bend.
    We will chat about how these species fit together, explore practical ways to help them thrive, and even give citizen science a go as a group. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the bush, meet some friendly faces and head home with a newfound appreciation for the natural world right on our doorstep.
    Remember to bring a water bottle and sturdy footwear as tracks are uneven in places.
    Don’t forget binoculars there’s a good chance we’ll spot some birds too.
    Be sun smart and mozzie safe!

    Community Planting Day at Tumut Wetlands

    Want to make a difference in your community?
    Enjoy getting your hands dirty and spending time outdoors?

    The Riverina Highlands Landcare Network together with Snowy Valleys Council invite you to join us for a Community Planting Day at the Tumut Wetlands.

    We’ll be planting a mix of sedges, grasses, rushes, trees and shrubs that will support the health and diversity of this special space in our community.

     

    Event Details

    • Date: Sunday 14th September 2025

    • Time: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

    • Location: Tumut Wetlands (access via Gocup Road)

    Who Can Come?

    Everyone is welcome: community members, families (kids will have a great time) and anyone interested in volunteering. It’s a chance to roll up your sleeves and be part of the future of the Tumut Wetlands.

    What to Bring

    • Enclosed shoes, hat and sunscreen

    • Gardening gloves

    • Weather-appropriate clothing (we’ll go ahead rain or shine)

    • A spare shovel if you have one

    The RHLN team will supply some tools to share around.

    Blooming Connections - Weaving

    Blooming Connections - Weaving
    Murrumbidgee Landcare presents Blooming Connections, a series of easy activities with a focus on nature, bringing together First Nations Elders and Senior Citizens who reside in Narrandera to build relationships and fostering good mental health and wellness.
    The activities will include morning tea and are free for First Nations people aged 50 years and over, and Senior Citizens aged 65 and over. Carers are welcome and encouraged to attend.
    All are welcome, men and women.

    Join Coolamon Landcare for a guided walk with Ecologist Leigh Maloney, from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Spot native orchids in bloom and discover the rich biodiversity of Kindra State Forest.
