    Cultural Considerations on Country training

    This 2-day training will provide you with the opportunity to increase your knowledge and awareness of Aboriginal people and culture, whilst allowing you to be immersed into a number of different cultulral activities.

    The training is intended to provide thought provoking content in a ‘safe’ environment allowing everyone the respect and space to feel open about asking questions and having the ‘uncomfortable’ conversations.

    The training will assist participants in developing a deeper understanding of Aboriginal culture, history and behaviours and how they relate to current Indigenous society.

    Event Cost: $550 per person (plus. GST)

    Blooming Connections - Seed Propagation


    10 April 2025

    Murrumbidgee Landcare presents Blooming Connections, a series of easy activities with a focus on nature, bringing together First Nations Elders and Senior Citizens who reside in Narrandera to build relationships and fostering good mental health and wellness.
    The activities will include morning tea and are free for First Nations people aged 50 years and over, and Senior Citizens aged 65 and over. Carers are welcome and encouraged to attend.
    All are welcome, men and women.

    Young Enviro Champions workshop

    Are you a Young Environmental Champion? Or would you like to become one?

    This event is perfect for kids (aged approx 8 to 12) who are passionate about the environment and sustainability!

    • You will hear from two young local legends who are already making a big impact on the sustainability of our community.
    • You will get to take part in hands-on activities to learn about topics such as: permaculture, biodiversity, waste, energy use and nature
    • You will get to learn how you can be supported to make a difference in the sustainability of your home, school or community

    School holiday bush dyeing workshop - Hay

    Enjoy making your own 100% naturally dyed craft using plant material to colour a calico bag or other object.

    Cultural Site Identification Workshop


    16 April 2025

    Narrandera Local First Nations community members are invited for a two-day Cultural site identification training program led by Shane Herrington, from Environment and Heritage NSW. This course combines theory and practical experience to equip participants with essential skills in Cultural site assessment.

     

    What to expect:

    Day 1 - Wednesday 16 April 2025, focuses on theory and instruction using the Aboriginal Heritage Information Management System (AHIMS). You'll learn to navigate this database containing information on over 100,000 registered sites of First Nations culture and heritage significance across NSW.

    Day 1 will be located at Gundyarri Corporation, 84 Audley Street Narrandera, from 11am until 3pm.

    Day 2 - Thursday 17 April 2025, we'll venture out on Country for hands-on experience in site registration. Participants will apply their knowledge to identify, record, and register First Nations cultural sites under expert guidance.

    Day 2 will be located at 809 Irrigation Way, Narrandera, from 9am until 12pm.

     

    Lunch will be provided on day 1, morning tea will be provided on day 2.

     

    Please remember: Enclosed shoes, hat and water.

     

    You will receive an email with details to register for the AHIMS system, a map and detailed information upon registration.

     

    Places are limited and bookings are essential to secure your spot.

     

    Landcare NSW and the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust are working together to raise awareness and support private land conservation efforts across the state.

    School holiday bush dyeing workshop - Tumut


    16 April 2025

    Join us for an afternoon of dye making, led by Ronnie Jordan. Ronnie is a Pitta Pitta Wangkamahdla woman and owner of ‘Culture on the Move’.

    Taking place in the beautiful Riverina Highlands Landcare Nursery, you will have the chance to learn traditional dying techniques creating a beautiful piece to keep.

    All materials will be supplied.

     

    This workshop is ideal for children and young people aged 5 to 24 years; children aged 5 to 12 are welcome, but may require some support.

    Please bring a hat and water bottle.

    All children MUST be accompanied by a parent/carer for the workshop.

    Join us for a morning of bush dyeing, led by Gomeroi artist Debbie Wood.

    You can choose either a tshirt or scarf to dye. You can even incorporate natural objects into your dyeing such as leaves, flowers and seedpods!

    You'll also have the opportunity to learn to weave your own bracelet, while your item soaks in the dye!

    All materials will be supplied.

    This workshop is perfect for young people aged 12 to 24 years. Younger children are welcome, but will require parental supervision.

    Please bring a hat and water bottle.
