We have all heard lately how belonging to a tribe is good for our mental health and our wellbeing. Also, that going out into nature is good for us.
When you attend a NSW Landcare Gathering that is what it is like. You belong to a tribe of like-minded people. The conversation flows. You get to chat about amazing projects all over NSW.
It doesn’t matter if:
- You’re walking to breakfast and come across someone on the path,
- You take up a seat at breakfast with someone you have never met, or
- You’re standing in line with people waiting for dinner.
These people are a tribe of like-minded people who want the best for the land, for its people and its communities.
How can you tell they are a tribe?
- The noise never stops. There is constant chatter
- When a bandicoot sneaks off the path and joins us for dinner there is great excitement
- Wherever you walk there are groups of people in deep conversation
- People get up early to appreciate the beauty of nature so close to a huge city, and marvel at what it has to offer – and that someone had the foresight to ensure it remains untouched and nurtured.
The learning goes on and on. We realise we have to be clever and solution based. Not just looking at the next five or ten years but into the future for the next hundred years. Landcare has come of age and it’s fully committed to making this planet a better place for its people, its communities.
A big thankyou to Landcare NSW for providing this opportunity for new learnings. We have taken it on board and look forward to implementing the ideas we were inspired by.
