We had an absolutely fantastic day on the 16th of April 2025 with our Young Enviro Champs, packed with inspiration, learning, and hands-on environmental activities!
The day kicked off with inspiring talks from two amazing young environmental advocates, Chloe and Lachlan, both just 16 years old. Their dedication and achievements in caring for the environment at such a young age were truly inspiring for everyone there.
Afterwards, we explored the beautiful gardens of ErinEarth, a community-focused sustainable living education centre known for its native plant gardens and commitment to environmental education. Our Young Enviro Champs got stuck into a range of activities, including:
-
Building worm farms to naturally enrich their gardens
-
Creating succulent planters using recycled materials
-
Connecting with nature through nature journaling
-
Exploring the rich biodiversity of the local wetlands
It was a perfect day of learning, action, and fun, finishing with big smiles, new friendships, and a few muddy knees.
A huge thanks to all our Young Enviro Champs for their enthusiasm and commitment, showing just how much a passionate group of young people can achieve together.
ErinEarth continues to be a vital community resource, offering educational programs, volunteer opportunities, and a beautiful space that promotes sustainable living and environmental awareness. This event was a wonderful example of how community collaboration helps nurture the next generation of environmental champions.
We’d also like to thank our partners Wagga Wagga Urban Landcare, ErinEarth, Sustainable Wagga Wagga, and the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Their support, including funding through an Environmental Trust Environmental Education grant, was essential in making this event happen.
